Marcus and his wife, Alba, decided late in life to get into shape. After losing over 40 pounds, he continued to strive for further improvement and eventually turned to racing. After racing in numerous trail and road running events, he was persuaded by a fellow trail runner to look into off-road triathlons.
In 2007, he first started racing triathlons. At his first triathlon, XTERRA Uwharrie, he took 3rd place overall in the Sport class. He has been hooked on XTERRA‘s ever since.
Racing the Open class for the first time in 2008, he qualified for Nationals and finished the points series in 6th place for the Southeast Region within his division. Check out more of his results.
In 2012, Marcus will be racing as part of Team Centimark-Tailwind and EPC Multisport. He races as a runner in road and trail runs and as a triathlete with a primary focus on off-road triathlons, specifically the XTERRA Points Series. He’ll also be racing as part of Team USA at the ITU Cross Triathlon World Championships in Pelham, Alabama.
- Raced as a member of Team USA at the ITU Cross Triathlon World Championships in Extremadura, Spain and finished in the top 20.
- Qualified for USAT Age Group National Championships in Burlington, Vermont
- Qualified for both XTERRA National Championships and XTERRA World Championships
- Finished 3rd in XTERRA US Points Series for his division at the regional level (Southeast Region)
When not working a full time day job, Marcus enjoys long hikes with his wife, Alba. He has three wonderful kids, Ashley, Aaron and Jesslyn that are always on the go. Since he loves trail running and mountain biking, it doesn’t take much effort to talk him into going for a group ride or run on the trails.
